Robi Digital Services organizes partners meet

Robi Digital Services recently organized a partners’ meet at a city hotel. Industry partners, digital content providers, digital services entrepreneurs, owners of startups and CEOs and Managing Directors of leading partners attended the programme.

Robi’s Chief Digital Service Officer, Shihab Ahmad; Head of Regulatory Affairs, Shahed Alam; Head of IT, Asif Naimur Rashid; Vice President, IoT & product Innovation, Digital Services, Mohammad Showkat Kader Chowdhury; General Manager, Digital Services, Mohammad Musabbir along with other senior officials of Robi Digital Services were present on the occasion.

Robi presented its new Digital Services API (Application Programming Interface) platform – Mobile Internet Fulfillment Exchange (MIFE) at the event. Features and functions of the platform were discussed at length. Existing partners shared their experience with MIFE at a panel discussion, held at the event. The current status and future of digital services, OTT players, and the role of telecom operators were also addressed.

Partners who have been with Robi Digital Services since the beginning were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation, for their continued support and patronage.

MIFE is an API platform that enables the digital entrepreneurs to take their digital services to the market in the shortest possible time. It provides an ecosystem of web-based APIs that most notably includes Direct Operator Billing, SMS, Location Based Services, and Mobile Identity. Being connected to Axiata Digital Services, MIFE allows digital entrepreneurs to reach out to 330 million customers spread across Asia including Robi and Airtel subscribers in Bangladesh.

Direct Operator Billing is one of most important APIs, using which partners are able to sell their digital contents to Robi & Airtel subscribers – be it on-demand or subscription. With such advancements, Robi & Airtel customers should soon be able to enjoy many new and innovative digital services, including the possibility of being able to purchase and download apps from the various global app stores using only their mobile airtime.

Traditionally, it could take months for companies to get signed up and connected to the telco ecosystem. MIFE has completely re-engineered this on-boarding process, which means a typical Go-To-Market cycle would come down from over 3/4 months to less than 3 weeks.
