Bangladesh Scouts’ online activities to combat corona virus

The corona virus, a declared pandemic, has made its way into Bangladesh. To curb the spread of the virus through awareness, Bangladesh Scouts along with the government have been conducting various online activities to raise awareness of the crisis. Bangladesh Scouts have been conducting various online activities’ for all children and the youth. The Corona Virus Co-ordination Cell (CCC) has also been established at the national headquarters of Bangladesh Scouts. Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan, Chief National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts and Commissioner (Enquiry), Anti Corruption Commission, recently directed an online meeting of all the National Commissioners and National Deputy Commissioners of Bangladesh Scouts and urged them to monitor the activities of their respective district.

The government is working with the utmost awareness and importance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Bangladesh. All educational institutions have been closed and the people of the country have been asked to adhere to home quarantine protocols. During this dire time of crisis, the children and youth of the country have the opportunity of mastering various skills by utilizing the free time while staying at home as per the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the government. Accordingly, Bangladesh Scouts have been conducting various online activities entailing Corona awareness and safety protocol training, Hand Wash Challenge, poetry recitals, painting, book reading competition, etc. UNDP, Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh, World Literature Center, Duronto Television and several other organizations have lent a helping hand on conducting these activities. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, President of Bangladesh Scouts and former chief coordinator of SDG’s and Principal Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office said, “Scout Members have already started conducting online training and awareness activities through telecommunication and social media from home. Spending unproductive time at home? Feeling lazy? Pondering about ways to spend productive time and help society as well? Since the first priority of the students is to study, the importance of it has already been underscored through the implementation of Parliament Television. Recreational time can both be entertaining and educational. To that end, Bangladesh Scouts are conducting various online activities in collaboration with various organizations. We expect that all the people of the country will cooperate with the government from their own position to bring the situation back to normal. ”
